Lincoln Mural with Suregrip- School Playground
Objectives
@wellspringacademytrust wanted a change from traditional hopscotch to encourage more creative play in the playground. @marcus_method took on this challenge using our Coo-Var Suregrip paint and did an exceptional job!
Solutions
Creating a safe but aesthetic mural on the ground of a Primary School in Lincoln
The surface was first primmed using Coo-Var Acrylic Primer Sealer. This stops the Suregrip reacting with the solvent in the bitumen that is found in the tarmac, the floor was then finished with 2 coats of Suregrip.
The surface was allowed to cure for 5 - 7 days and was opened for the children of the school to enjoy.
Challenges
Surface Preparation: Playground surfaces, particularly outdoor ones, often accumulate dirt, grease, or become uneven. This makes thorough cleaning a crucial step before applying Suregrip. While preparing the surface can be a labor-intensive and time-consuming process, it is essential for a successful application.
Drying Process: Ensuring the surface is completely dry before painting is another challenge, especially in playground environments exposed to rain, humidity, or condensation.
For the project at hand, three key factors were essential: a wide range of vibrant colors, a non-slip finish for safety, and a product that was easy to work with. Suregrip met all these criteria, making it the perfect choice for the job.
Benefits
An anti-slip coating ensuring the maximum safety for children and running wild with their imagination on the inspiring artwork.
