The Cube Birmingham Floor Mural
The Cube stands out as Birmingham's premier destination, boasting an eclectic blend of upscale restaurants and bars, a luxurious hotel, and a chic boutique bowling alley. Visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Birmingham City skyline, making it an ideal spot for both everyday outings and special celebrations, with an array of dining and entertainment choices to suit any occasion.
Objectives
The Cube Birmingham decided it was time for a refresh on their mural art work. The floor is composed of concrete and tarmac and was generally in poor condition. The moisture level of the floor was high and the previous coating crumbling away, making it ready for a renovation.
Solutions
One of our experts conducted a site visit to recommend an appropriate system for refreshing the artwork and addressing the high moisture levels and previous coating failures. The recommendation was to use Coo-Var Dampshield Primer as the initial step. This primer is moisture-tolerant, bonds well to damp substrates, and creates an effective moisture barrier. The recommended topcoat is Teamac High Performance Finish, a two-component polyurethane coating. This topcoat can be tinted to preferred colours, allowing contractors to revitalise the appearance of the surface. It can be matched to RAL, BS, and NCS colour standards.
