Matt Black FAQ's

What is matte black paint?

Matte black paint is a type of paint with a flat, non-glossy finish that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, giving surfaces a sleek, sophisticated look.

What are the benefits of using matte black paint?

Matte black paint can hide imperfections better than glossy finishes, doesn’t show fingerprints as easily, and provides a modern, understated look.

Where can I use matte black paint?

It can be used on walls, furniture, door frames, tudor beams and various decorative items. It's particularly popular in interior design.

How do I apply matte black paint?

Proper surface preparation is crucial. This includes cleaning and sanding the surface to create a 'key'. Use multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat to avoid streaks and ensure even coverage.

Can I use a roller or brush to apply matte black paint?

Yes, but for the best results, especially on large surfaces spraying is recommended to avoid brush strokes and roller marks.

Does matte black paint require a special primer?

It's often recommended to use a primer suitable for matte finishes to ensure better adhesion and a smoother finish. On Metal use Coo-Var Zinc Phosphate Primer.

How do I clean surfaces painted with matte black paint?

Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing, as this can damage the finish.
