Coo-Var All Metals Primer is a general purpose water based primer which can be overcoated with a wide range of topcoats. Will enhance the performance of Coo-Var Hammercote and is an ideal primer for all metals and galvanised surfaces.

What is All Metals Primer?

All Metals Primer is a coating applied to metal surfaces to enhance adhesion of the topcoat, prevent rust, and improve durability. Unlike solvent-based primers, it uses water as the primary solvent.

Can All Metals Primer​ be used on all types of metal?

They are suitable for a wide range of metals, including steel, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces. However, surface preparation and compatibility with specific metals should be checked.

How should the metal surface be prepared before applying All Metals Primer?

Clean the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, and rust.

Use Coo-Var Universal Degreaser to remove any grease and oil.

Any remaining rust pitting treat with Coo-Var Rust Converter

Abrade the surface with sandpaper or a wire brush for better adhesion.

Ensure the surface is dry before application.

How long does it take for a All Metals Primer to dry?

Touch Dry 1.5 hours, Hard Dry 4 Hours and Full Hardness 3-5 Days.

Can All Metals Primer be applied in cold weather?

All Metals Primer requires a minimum temperature of around 50°F (10°C) for proper curing.

How should a All Metals Primer be applied?

Use a brush, roller, or spray gun.

Apply in thin, even coats to avoid drips and ensure proper coverage.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application thickness and drying times.

Is All Metals Primer resistant to rust?

Yes, they contain rust inhibitors that help protect metal surfaces from corrosion.

How do I clean tools after using All Metals Primer?

Clean brushes, rollers, and other tools with soap and water immediately after use.
