30,000 square foot industrial space in the centre of Hull, Hammonds of Hull Food Hall floor protected using Profloor Epoxy in Clear
The 30,000 square foot industrial space features over 12 differing food and beverage locations such as the Vinyl Lounge, the Tin Man Bar, and 1821 Cocktail and Coffee bar.
Background
The Hammonds name originated in 1821, when Henry William Hammond opened a drapery shop in the centre of Hull, since then the Hammonds store has moved, suffered a flattening in The Blitz, changed ownership and been rebuilt. The building that stands today originates from the Rebuild in 1952 and stands tall in the heart of the city.
Challenge
The concrete floor surface originated from 1952 and had several layers of adhesive, oil, grease, and previous coatings all caused from general wear and tear over the last 70 years. Coo-Var’s technical team’s specifications included thorough cleaning and diamond grinding the surface prior the application of the Profloor. A test area was carried out before the application to make sure the desired finish was achieved for the restoration.
Solution and Outcome
After thorough preparation the floor was finished with two coats of Profloor in clear, a water-based, two-pack epoxy floor coating designed for high impact and wear resistance, with a semi-gloss finish. Profloor has strong adhesion onto various substrates including concrete, and ceramic tiles. Profloor is available in a variety of colours and can also be made anti-slip.
