What BREEAM Means for the Built Environment
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings and infrastructure. It provides a recognised framework for measuring and improving environmental, social and economic performance throughout a building’s lifecycle, from design and construction through to operation and refurbishment.
Projects assessed under BREEAM are measured against key criteria including energy, water, materials, waste, pollution, and health and wellbeing. Indoor air quality plays a vital role in occupant comfort and long-term building performance.
Meeting the requirements of BREEAM Hea 04 Indoor Air Quality helps specifiers and developers demonstrate their commitment to reducing harmful emissions in enclosed spaces, improving wellbeing for building users and supporting wider ESG and sustainability goals.
