FAQs

What is Heat Resistant Enamel Paint?

This is a specialist industrial paint designed to withstand very high temperatures without blistering, peeling or discolouring, with a maximum temperature resistance of up to 600℃

How does Heat Resistant Enamel Paint work?

This works by using a special silicone-based paint that can handle very high temperatures without burning or peeling. After you apply it, the paint dries normally, but it only becomes fully strong when it is heated. As the metal heats up, the paint chemically hardens into a tough, heat-proof layer that sticks to the surface and moves with the metal as it expands and cools. This allows it to protect metal parts from heat, rust, and damage in places like stoves, exhausts, and boilers

How many coats of Heat Resistant Enamel Paint do I need?

As generally advised, we would recommend 2 thin coats for an
efficient and durable finish. Applying too many coats (or too thick a coating) can lead to paint cracking or blistering when heated

Do I need to prime the surface before applying Heat Resistant Enamel Paint?

No, this is intended for direct application provided the
surface is prepared accordingly as this product is designed to bond best when directly applied to metal surfaces.

In any cases, a primer may be used but a small test area should be coating firstly to test for compatibility. The primer must meet the following conditions:

- The manufacturer of the primer specifically states it is heat-resistant

- The temperature rating is the same as our Heat Resistant Enamel Paint

Can I use Heat Resistant Enamel Paint on any surface?

No, this is specifically designed for metal substrates only

Is Heat Resistant Enamel Paint safe to use?

Yes, this is safe to use and does not require professional
application. Our recommended guidelines are stated in our technical datasheet for further preparation and application tips.

Can Heat Resistant Enamel Paint go over previously painted surfaces?

Yes – as long as the previous paint is properly prepared and
the previous coatings are also heat resistant (with the same temperature rating or higher)

Can I repaint over Heat Resistant Enamel Paint?

Yes. You can repaint over our Heat Resistant Enamel Paint only
with the same or another heat-resistant paint
rated for the same or higher temperature. The surface must be fully cured, clean, and lightly sanded for good adhesion. Ordinary paints will blister or peel if applied to a hot surface. If the surface no longer gets hot, standard paints may be used, but otherwise, only heat resistant coatings are safe.

Does Heat Resistant Enamel Paint come in different colours?

No, it is only available in black

What maintenance is required?

Once properly applied and cured, our Heat Resistant Enamel Paint is largely maintenance-free. You should periodically wipe it clean with a soft cloth or mild soapy water and inspect for cracks, chips, or peeling, especially on surfaces exposed to high heat. Minor damage can be touched up with another thin coat of heat-resistant paint. Avoid exceeding the paint’s maximum temperature rating, and it will remain durable, rust-resistant, and long-lasting with minimal care.
