FAQs

What is Coo-Var Matt White?

This is a flat, non-reflective specialist paint product used for decorating and finishing surfaces with a matt finish.

How does Coo-Var Matt White work?

It works by forming a thin, solid white coating on a surface as it dries.

The liquid part of the paint evaporates, leaving behind pigments and binders that stick to the surface.

Unlike glossy paints, it diffuses light rather than reflecting it,giving a smooth and soft look.

How many coats of Coo-Var Matt White do I need?

Two coats would be our standard recommendation.

Do I need to prime the surface before applying Coo-Var Matt White?

Our Matt White does require a suitable primer, based on the relevant substrate it is going onto:

WoodCoo-Var Aluminium Wood Primer

MetalCoo-Var Zinc Phosphate Primer

Masonry -  First coat thinned by 5-10% with Thinners 14

Can I use Coo-Var Matt White on any surface?

We would advise its use on the referred substrates above, as we have tested and can confirm their compatibility

Is Coo-Var Matt White safe to use?

Yes, it is safe to use despite being a solvent-based paint. However we would always advise you should follow our safety information on the label as well as in our Safety Datasheet

Can Coo-Var Matt White go over previously painted surfaces?

Yes, provided the surface is prepared accordingly for the best adhesion results possible:

Remove all loose/flaking material & ensure the surface is clean

Can I repaint over Coo-Var Matt White?

Yes you can, provided its surface has cured properly, its been given a light sanding and has been cleaned first.

Does Coo-Var Matt White come in different colours?

This product only comes available in white

What maintenance is required?

Regular maintenance is generally advised to ensure it is
regularly clean

- Light cleaning only: Use a soft cloth or sponge with a mild detergent and water

- Avoid scrubbing: it’s a matt finish, so heavy rubbing can burnish (go shiny) or mark the surface

- Dry wipe first: for dust or light marks, a dry or slightly damp cloth is usually enough
