FAQs

What is Siliconised Teak Oil?

Siliconised Teak Oil is a specialized wood treatment oil that combines traditional teak oil with silicone to enhance the protection and durability of wood surfaces, especially those exposed to outdoor elements.

How does Siliconised Teak Oil differ from regular teak oil?

The addition of silicone to teak oil provides improved water repellency, UV resistance, and overall durability, making it particularly suitable for outdoor furniture and surfaces.

How do I apply Siliconised Teak Oil?

Clean the wood surface thoroughly, then apply the oil using a brush, cloth, or sprayer. Allow it to penetrate for 15-30 minutes, and wipe off any excess oil. Repeat as needed for deeper protection.

Can I use Siliconised Teak Oil on any type of wood?

While it is primarily designed for teak and other hardwoods, it can be used on a variety of wood types. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility.

How often should I reapply Siliconised Teak Oil?

For outdoor furniture, reapplication every 6 to 12 months is recommended, depending on exposure to elements. Indoor items may need less frequent treatment.

What are the benefits of using Siliconised Teak Oil?

Benefits include enhanced protection against water damage, UV rays, mildew, and stains, as well as maintaining the wood's natural appearance and extending its lifespan.

Does Siliconised Teak Oil change the colour of the wood?

It may slightly darken the wood and enhance the grain, giving it a richer appearance, but it is generally designed to maintain the wood's natural colour.

How do I maintain wood treated with Siliconised Teak Oil?

Regular cleaning with mild soap and water, and reapplying the oil as needed, will keep the wood looking its best. Avoid harsh chemicals that can strip the oil.

Is Siliconised Teak Oil safe to use indoors?

Yes, but ensure good ventilation during application to minimize inhalation of fumes. Once dry, it is safe for indoor use.

Can I use Siliconised Teak Oil on previously varnished or painted surfaces?

No, the surface needs to be bare wood for the oil to penetrate effectively. Remove any old varnish or paint before applying the oil.
