1. What is Coo-Var Graffiti Removal Aerosol used for?
It is a solvent-based aerosol remover designed to remove graffiti paint, inks, markers, and similar markings from surfaces, especially those pre-treated with Coo-Var anti-graffiti systems (P101 or WB101).
It is typically used before reapplying an anti-graffiti coating or for maintenance cleaning.
2. Which surfaces is it compatible with, and are there any surfaces to avoid?
- It works best on hard, non-porous surfaces (e.g. metal, painted panels, signage) and surfaces already coated with Coo-Var’s P101 or WB101 anti-graffiti systems.
- It is not suitable for use on GP101 (so avoid applying it onto that protective coating)
- Because it is a strong solvent formula, delicate or soft surfaces (e.g. some plastics, delicate finishes, soft coatings) may be damaged. It is always advisable to test a small, inconspicuous area first.
3. How should it be applied (method, distances, and removal)?
- Shake the aerosol well before use.
- Hold the can upright, about 25–30 cm from the surface to be cleaned.
- Spray the graffiti thoroughly, allowing the solvent to penetrate the coating.
- Wipe away with a soft damp cloth or rinse with water. In tougher cases, a repeat application may be necessary.
4. Will it harm or remove underlying protective coatings (e.g. P101, WB101)?
When used correctly, the remover is formulated to work safely with Coo-Var P101 and WB101 systems, removing graffiti without damaging the protective coating.
However:
- Overexposure, excessive scrubbing, or using overly aggressive methods may degrade or remove parts of the protective layer.
- It should not be used on GP101, as compatibility is not assured.
- Always patch test the remover in an inconspicuous area to ensure it does not adversely affect the coating or substrate.
