FAQs

What is anti-damp paint?

Anti-damp paint is a specially formulated coating that helps prevent moisture from penetrating walls, thereby reducing issues such as mould, mildew, and damp stains.

How does anti-damp paint work?

It creates a moisture-resistant barrier on the surface of the wall, preventing moisture release. It also contains fungicides to inhibit mould growth.

Where can anti-damp paint be used?

It can be used on interior walls, basements, bathrooms, kitchens, ceilings and any area prone to dampness.

Is anti-damp paint different from regular paint?

Yes, anti-damp paint contains additional compounds that provide a waterproof barrier and often have mould-resistant properties, unlike regular paint.

How should I prepare a surface before applying anti-damp paint?

The surface should be clean, dry, and free from existing mould or mildew. Any mould and mildew that is present should be cleaned with Fluxaf Mould and Mildew Remover. Any cracks or holes should be filled, and loose paint should be removed.

Can I apply anti-damp paint over existing paint?

Yes, but it is recommended to remove any loose or peeling paint and to ensure the surface is properly prepared to ensure good adhesion.

How many coats of anti-damp paint are necessary?

Typically, two coats are recommended for optimal protection, but this can vary depending on the specific product instructions.

How long does anti-damp paint take to dry?

Touch Dry 2 hours, Hard Dry 8 Hours.

Can anti-damp paint be painted over with regular paint?

Yes, once the anti-damp paint is fully cured, you can paint over it with regular emulsion or other decorative paints.

Does anti-damp paint eliminate damp problems completely?

While it helps prevent moisture from penetrating walls, it may not solve underlying issues such as leaks or poor ventilation. Any leaks causing the damp should be repaired prior to using this paint as will not adhere to extremely wet surfaces.

Can anti-damp paint be used on all types of walls?

Anti-Damp Paint is suitable for a variety of surfaces, including plaster, cement and stone.
